HK P T U Debating Competition
2017-2018

Explaining one’s viewpoint is difficult, let alone debating in a second
language – English. Yet, the English Debating Team challenged themselves
by joining the HKPTU Debating Competition. On 3rd November, 2017, our
team had the first ever debating competition with Tuen Mun Government
Secondary School. Despite the lack of experience, the team strived to excel
themselves and managed to give their speeches eloquently.
The team entered the 3rd round of the competition with their hard work
and dedication. On 2nd March, 2018, they competed against TWGHs Kap
Yan Directors’ College. This time, the team communicated more effectively and
rebutted the opponent’s argument in a very confident way.
The debating team members have gained a lot in these two competitions. Besides
adopting different skills required in a debate, they have come to the realization that whether
win or lose is not important. What matters is the memories they have shared and the friendship
that has been built. It is hoped that our debaters will keep up with their passion in debating and
benefit in every match they join.
