4D Tong Chun Hei Australia Study Tour

The day after my birthday, I departed for Australia without my parents’
companion. The 21-day study tour was my first time going aboard. It was also
my first time being on an airplane. Therefore, I look forward to everything new.

Right after the 18-hour flight, our first day’s schedule kicked off. Although I
barely slept on the airplane, I was still wide awake because of the gentle breeze
and great sunshine. The weather in Australia was comfortable, everyday was
                                          sunny and crispy.

For the first two days, we stayed at a farm in Brisbane. Everything we did, I have
never experienced before including riding a horse, milking a cow, feeding sheep
and poultry and having a camp fire. We danced and sang around the camp fire
and it made my first night in Australia really funny and unforgettable.

After we leave the farm, my roommate and I went to my host family. I was going
to live in, the four children in the family, and the dog host mum mentioned. Once
I stepped in the house, I was shocked by how spacious the house was. Later,
we found that all of the four sons were studying in my host school. So, for the
following school day, the oldest son drove us to school. Although our house in
another state and it takes around 45 minutes to get there, we were not bored as
we chatted and played music loudly in the car. It makes every morning a funny
                                          one!
At school, we learnt a lot about Australian culture and the most interesting must
be Aussie Slang which is the unique way for Australian of saying certain thing.
It helps us to have a better understanding when communicating with Aussie.
Being at school, all of the Hong Kong students spent their recess time with their
own buddy and coincidentally my buddy was the son in my host family!

14 When we went back home after school, we usually chat with host mum about
our school life and have a bicycle ride to the beach with the boys. After that,
we enjoyed delicious dinner prepared by host mum which is an excellent cook.
I always play video games and card games with two little brothers after dinner
instead of playing mobile phone without communication. Unlike in Hong Kong,
they told me that they always sleep before 10! Being with the host family was
definitely the best part of the tour!

Through this tour, I have widened my horizon and I know much more about
Australian and their lifestyle. Besides, my English proficiency and my English-
speaking skill has been enhanced through daily communication with different
people. Moreover, I can now understand more foreign accent which is a great
                                          achievement!

The study tour was definitely my best birthday gift ever and I would never forget
every minute that I spent in Australia.
