Life Planning
The Careers Guidance Committee is composed of a Careers Mistress and five Careers
Teachers who provide guidance to our students on Life Planning.
A six-year Life Planning Programme is implemented in our school. For junior forms, the
Committee collaborates with the Counselling and Guidance Committee to conduct surveys
which aim to collect information about the adaptation of F.1 newcomers to their new school
life. F.2 students have to conduct interviews with their relatives engaged in different
occupations. This aims to empower them to make informed and responsible choices on
setting their career goals. F.3 students have to make their choice of electives to be taken in
senior forms. ‘Finding Your Colours of Life’ is adopted as a reference book to help students
formulate a tentative senior secondary plan about subject choices. In addition, an interest test
is conducted for students while a talk on the choice of F.4 subjects is held annually for parents.
Various study opportunities including vocational training are also provided to needy students.
F.4 and F.5 students are given various opportunities on career exploration such as alumni
and professional sharing on studies and careers. The reference book ‘Career Mapping: A
Career Development Tool for Senior Secondary Students’ is adopted for Careers Education
in senior forms. Students are given information on how to formulate their action plans on
YEARS OF EXCELLENCE their academic studies, further studies and prospective careers. Career interest tests are also
conducted for senior form students to facilitate self-understanding of academic interests,
abilities and career goals. Talks by representatives from local and overseas tertiary institutes
and visits to universities and enterprises in Taiwan are organized annually to provide up-to-
40 date information on further studies and career pursuits.
F.6 students receive careers guidance in the form of talks on JUPAS application and further
studies by the Careers Mistress, guest speakers from various tertiary educational institutes and
alumni. Workshops on interview techniques and mock interviews are organized regularly to
improve students’ interview skills. Members of the Committee give individual guidance to
F.6 students on their choice of university programmes before and after the release of the Hong
Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination results. Students are nominated to join
various principal nomination schemes of local tertiary institutes and universities in Mainland
China. Latest information and prompt assistance are also provided for further studies overseas
and locally.
Life planning is an ongoing and lifelong personal fulfillment with different foci at their
corresponding stages. It plays an important role in fostering students’ self-understanding and
personal development. Careers services provided in our school have been steered towards the
goal of enabling students to make informed and wise career choices that meet their interests
and abilities.
