英文 English Aiming for the Stars with English

At JRPGS, we aim to develop our culturally diverse students into proficient users of
the English language. The literacy programme for lower primary students, PLP-R/W, is an
amalgamation of extensive reading and writing experience, phonics-building and fun language
activities. Besides that, our school-based speaking and writing programmes develop students’
language skills and equip them with useful strategies to express themselves effectively.
Non-academic activities complement the English curriculum to create an encouraging and
enriching learning environment. Students can develop their confidence through public speaking
opportunities which include class sharing in assemblies on English Tuesdays, English lunch-time
broadcasts and external competitions like the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival. Students get a
chance to use English in an enjoyable manner during our annual English Fun Day or the ‘Letters to
Santa’ event at Christmas. Additionally, with exciting activities like drama and filmmaking, students
not only grow their passion for English, but also learn about team work and other useful skills.
Recognizing that learning is a lifelong process, we hope to give JRGPS students a good
foundation of English to make them competent learners for a bright future!
