Opening Ceremony and

Commencement Week

3 September 2019 was the first day of the Academic Year 2018-2019. All
students, especially P.1 students, were enthusiastic to meet their new teachers,
classmates and new environment. The opening ceremony was the highlight of
the week. The motivational and inspiring speech given by Principal Chow was
the best part of all. The theme of “Hope” was clearly illustrated through stories
and videos. Students could have a better understanding of the theme and

U.S.S.R. started from the first school day to cultivate a reading habit of
students and enhance the reading culture of our school. The introduction of school
routines and establishment of positive class culture were our regular practice this
week. Students participated in creating their own class poster and discussing
the class rules together. They all had ownership to build their own class culture.
The Kick-off Ceremony of the Firefly Scheme was a wonderful beginning of this
encouraging award scheme. Students could not wait to get their You Shine stamps
or signatures from teachers, non-teaching staff, family members and friends. They
would be rewarded non-materialistic “presents”, such as having lunch with their
friends, teachers or Principal, etc., throughout the year. Principal Chow is inviting students

The inauguration of school prefects was held formally and solemnly on 4 September. The
Head Prefects, who were the icons of good students, were introduced to all as respectable
examples to follow. The particles of character building started jumping into our campus.

The last day of this week was a breathtaking day for both P.1 and P.4 students as Buddy
Matching was held. All P.1 and P.4 students prepared gifts for their buddies and met each other
The big buddies in the hall. Both were very excited to know each other and they started their relationship with
the school tour. P.4 students introduced different places to their P.1 buddies while they were
introduce various holding hands to walk around the campus. Last but not least, they ended with a promise of a
