1. Introduction to LEWI

China, Chinese Foreign Relations, Sino-Vatican Relations, Sino-American Relations,

and Hong Kong History.

Prof. Chu is one of the Directors for the Christian Study Centre on Chinese Religion

and Culture, Chung Chi College, and Executive Member of the Society for the

Study of History of Christianity in China, Hong Kong. Also she is appointed as
the HKCAAVQ (Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational
Qualifications) Specialist.

Prof. Kara Chan

Convenor of Environment, Health and Sustainability Working Group of LEWI

and Professor of Communication Studies

Prof. Chan joined the HKBU in 1993. She is currently
Professor in the Department of Communication
Studies. She worked in the advertising and public

relations profession and as a statistician for the Hong
Kong Government before she joined the academia.

She is convenor of Environment, Health and
Sustainability Working Group of LEWI. In the year

under review she published an edited book, seven
journal articles and seven book chapters. She

recently completed a competitive Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)
research project on social inclusion, led by Prof. Peter Huxley.
