Foreword
Wofoo Foundation (WF) is a charitable organisation which always tries to contribute to the society through WFJLPS
with the motto of:
“Harmony brings a family prosperity, Cohesion makes a nation wealthy”.
WF is dedicated to partnering charities, social groups, service providers, and other relevant agencies in developing
a more caring Hong Kong community. That is why the yearbook that we are publishing this year adopts the name of
“Harmony” with an aim to better serve our community and promote the spirit of “Harmony” within our school, especially
among our staff, students, parents and all stakeholders involved!
Today we are living in a world which is quite separated and diverse. We live and learn in a virtual world. The rapid
technological change leads to difficulty to predict with any accuracy. Although the introduction of “Artificial Intelligence”
(AI) can in some ways improve the quality of our daily lives and human practices as well as replace the works of human
beings leading to better efficiency and convenience, its deficits have created new problems and led to distrust and
destruction in human relationships. Friendships, families, and relationships are becoming more distant and varied: both
online and offline, with the consequence of fragmented and interrelated families. The intimacy and closeness among
people is becoming much more limited. Therefore, if we can build “Harmony” among people, we can restore and shorten
the gap.
You must also have noticed the recent happenings in Hong Kong. I always see Hong Kong as my home, and a home
for all of us. I believe that “Harmony” brings a family prosperity, and cohesion makes a nation wealthy. But when we
have so many different voices, how can we make peace in our home? So what is the HCF - Highest Common Factor -
the common ground that engages our society on multiple levels to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills that
empower people to coexist peacefully? My answer is the universal values. People may have different religions, cultural
backgrounds or personal views, but there are some common values that everyone shares, for example, perseverance,
forgiveness, inclusiveness, respect, integrity, care, etc. With the HCF, we can make Hong Kong a better place where we
embrace diversity and respect different voices.
The world is becoming more challenging, complex and uncertain. To equip our students with the skills to face
the future, we must place balanced emphasis on the development of virtue and talent. We strongly emphasise on
students’ development of music, visual arts and physical education, which illustrates how we conduct positive value
coaching. These learning experiences not only develop students’ knowledge and generic skills, but also nurture them of
positive values and attitudes, and finally build up their characters. I am sure that our students can attain both academic
achievement and moral achievement to fulfill the mission and make a positive impact on the world.
This yearbook serves to record, highlight, and commemorate the past year of our school and is published annually.
Hope you can find the best practices of our school in 2018-2019, and please identify at least one area that you can
contribute next year! Please enjoy reading it!
