Principal‘s Message
Harmony
Welcome to our 2019 W F Joseph Lee Primary
School yearbook. This is the third publication since 2002.
A yearbook, also known as an annual, is a type of book
published annually to record, highlight, and commemorate
the past year of a school. The term also refers to a book
of statistics or facts published annually. It is an important,
permanent document to remind everyone what we have
been through. We hope that this can be a living journal
that reflects the events and lives of W F students involved
with the school during this school year.
So why do we use Harmony as the name of our
yearbook? According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary,
Harmony means: 1. pleasing arrangement of parts
(congruence); 2. agreement (accord); 3. internal calm
(tranquillity). The motto of our school sponsoring body –
Wofoo Foundation Limited – is:
Harmony brings a family prosperity
Cohesion makes a nation wealthy
We hope our graduates can find peace in their mind, body and soul
when they come across adversities; they can continue to learn and grow with wisdom, faith and love, and make
meaningful contributions to society in the future; they can respect different voices and opinions, embrace diversity and
are willing to sacrifice for the common good.
This year is my second year of principalship here, and it has passed at whirlwind speed! To me, WFJLPS has been
a family for all stakeholders where teachers, students and parents are working together for the best benefits of our
students’ wellbeing. I experienced so much love and support from students, teachers, office staff and parents! No doubt
that there were so many events and memories we shared this year: the Firefly Kick-off, the Opening Ceremony of the
Sports and Arts Building, the receipt of the IAIE Fidelity Award, the launching of our Community Hub and the many
outstanding achievements that we have demonstrated in the public. I cannot express how proud I am of all the students,
teachers, office staff and parents for the part they played.
The theme of the year is Hope. I am sure our students have experienced what hope can bring to the people
around them. The following words are my blessing to my beloved students, especially the graduates: Always
keep hope in you. You are likely to come back to the yearbook again and again at different stages of your lives.
Remember the support you have had here and you have given others. Martin Luther King once said, ‘Everything
that is done in the world is done by hope.’ Be someone who has a good heart. Start with a dream, stay hopeful,
and go make the world a better place. You can achieve anything with hard work and dedication!
Last but not least, I would like to take this opportunity to send my special thanks to the Yearbook
Committee for their time and hard work putting this yearbook together. They have done a fantastic job!
On behave of the school, I want to say how proud we are of the finished publication. We really hope
everyone enjoy it for many years to come.
