STEM Projects
STEM is an acronym of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. We have implemented STEM education
in Science since 2016, so that on top of subject knowledge, students learn generic skills, teamwork and presentation
skills, etc. when doing the STEM projects in class.
This year, our STEM project put emphasis on the theme “Hope”. The following table shows the topics and the
positive “Hope” messages passed to students:
Grade Topic Message
1 Pet House Bring “Hope” to the abandoned / homeless animals
2 Noah’s Ark Bring “Hope” to the world
3 Beat the Heat Bring “Hope” to the poor families who live in rooftop house
4 Give a Hint Bring “Hope” to people with the visual or hearing impairment
5 Learning is Fun Bring “Hope” to students with mental retardation (Caritas Lok Kan School)
6 Green Building Bring “Hope” to the environment and promote environmental awareness
While working on the projects, students are nurtured with different moral values, such as respect, where we put into
practice like showing respect to people, animals and our environment. Both P.4 and P.5 students learnt to show empathy
to the people in need. P.6 students increased their awareness of environmental protection through the Green Building
projects: from the excursion to Singapore to the final products which include a lot of green measures.
All in all, STEM education provides a mean for students to develop values in mind, values in heart and values in
action.
