Message from the Chairperson of the Executive Board
2021 is still a challenging year. In the face worsening global epidemic, many organisations have
encountered a lot of difficulties in operation and service development. However, Hong Kong people
will not give up because of their indomitable spirit of Lion Rock! Although the road is full of thorns,
it can stimulate the spirit of mutual support and among all parties in the society. This year, we are
much grateful for the support from Jebsen Group Charitable Fund and become their first batch of
partners. This is an important affirmation of our great effort. At the same time, we are also much
thankful for the continual support from The Community Chest of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong
Council of Social Service, Social Welfare Department, for continuing to allocate funds to support the
services of the Association and provide timely care to service users under the epidemic to tide over
the difficulties.
Various degree of pauses and changes in society affecting the daily lives and put pressure on the
general public. Some people even vent their negative emotions by eating and eventually fall into
the quicksand of eating disorders. If there is no help to get them out as soon as possible, they will
sink deeper and deeper. Therefore, we focus on the prevention and education related to eating
disorders. We organise lectures, workshops and exhibitions to students and the public to achieve
the purpose of early identification and intervention.
To cope with the uncertainty of the epidemic, we have made use of the online platform to provide
educational talks for students from various institutions, as well as interest classes and mutual
support groups for service users at an early stage. We also co-operated with a video production
company to create a comedic skit with educational element that raised public awareness of eating
disorders in social media. We are now preparing to publish a book related to eating disorders
together with Ms. Patricia Kitchener, our organisation advisor. With the stories of her eating
disorders journey, the public may have a better understanding about the inner world of people with
eating disorders. Stay tuned!
I would like to thank our team for their efforts. We will try out best to overcome the difficulties
香港進食失調康復會有限公司 despite the new normal. In the coming year, we will continue to move forward with courage and
determination, without fear of difficulties. I believe that with our joint efforts, we will be able to work
together to carry out the mission of our organisation. May the epidemic end as soon as possible
and all the good things will come as promised.
