                based on his recently finished projects.

                 Senior Researcher, Modern History Research Centre and Adjunct Professor of
                 Department of History


                Prof. Chow obtained his B.A. (Hons.), M.Litt. and Ph.D.

                from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hiroshima
                University and the University of Hong Kong.


                Prof. Chow joined the HKBU in 1980.    Previously, he

                served as Director of the Advanced Institute for
                Contemporary China Studies (2012-2014), Director of
                the Modern History Research Centre (2002-2013) and

                Head of the Department of History (1995-2009). He
                is currently Honorary Vice-President of the Hong Kong Baptist University

                Foundation and Honorary Professor of the New Asia Institute of Advanced
                Chinese Studies.


                Prof. Chow is the author of《近代日本文與思想》(Modern Japanese Culture and

                Thought) (Hong Kong: The Commercial Press, 2015),《近代日人在華報業活動》
                (Japanese Journalism in Modern China) (Changsha: Yuelu Publishing Co., 2012)
                and《蘇報與蘇報案:1903 年上海新聞事件》(Subao and Subao Case: Shanghai

                Newspaper Incident in 1903) (Shanghai: Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences

                Press, 2005). His current research focuses on the development of the Chiu Chow
                community organisations in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.
