Learning Outside the Classroom
This year, we joined the support programme: “Promoting Community Practice to Optimize Teaching
in Small Classes”. The programme has afforded us with additional diversified teaching strategies
in order to maximize student participation in lessons. Our students have been provided with ample
opportunities to take part in group work. A successful language activity students participated in was
the field trip to Yiu On Shopping Centre. Students gained firsthand knowledge about the shopping
centre in our neighbourhood.

Providing an authentic speaking environment
Our students have been presented with many opportunities to present their ideas using
English during lesson time. They do this through such activities as: role plays, one-minute
presentations and interviews.

In addition, each student has been given an English Café Challenge Card to obtain
signatures from teachers. They receive signatures by using complete sentences in
conversation. The students with the most signatures are invited to the English Café, where
Fun games and yummy treats students speak freely with NETs and English Ambassadors.
