          To Venture and Explore

                “All the experience

          opened up my mind to
          adventures and exploration.’’

Fifteen years ago, I joined WFJLPS as a transfer
student from another local primary school. In 3 years’
time, I met some of the most passionate teachers I
have come across in my life. They imparted me with
proficient language skills and knowledge essential
          for my future.

The most important education did not take part
in regular lessons. On a summer day in Primary
4, I was encouraged to join the school choir as a
kid whose voice was far from appealing. The next
term I was sent to the fencing team despite my
mediocre physique. I was also assigned as the
leading guitarist at the graduation ceremony even
though I could only play three chords after months of Graduating from
          practice. medical school

I did not become a vocalist or a fencer, nor a

interschool competitions. However, they offered their

ways.’’ venture and explore. I learnt that one does not need
an angelic voice to join the choir, and one does not
need an athletic physique to be a fencer.

‘‘I am grateful for all the
                                                                  opportunities which I was

offered to try and to fail.’’

Having graduated from university, I went on to
volunteer in the most deprived slums in India, to
climb the highest mountain in Africa, and to hitchhike
through the most deserted part of Tibet. I learnt that
the best rewards are always gained outside one’s
