Embrace Challenges
I am Chan Wanghei, Hayley.
I am an artistic cyclist.
“I hope I can go on doing
artistic cycling - the sport I will
never get tired of.”
I started learning artistic cycling because of my
brother. When I was small, I was like the other kids,
staying at home and eating my favourite food. But
every weekend when my brother and mother went out
to practise artistic cycling, I was so upset for being left
at home. At last, one day, I said to Mum, "I want to do
that too." That was how the story began.
I started with unicycling, which laid the foundation
for artistic cycling - a sport requiring strength,
coordination and flexibility. After years of training,
I can do a lot of tricks, such as handlebar stand,
shoulder stand, raiser headtube. I won the
championship of Hong Kong Indoor Cycling Races
(Artistic Cycling) in Single Girls U13 and was the First
Runner-up in the Pair Women event.
“But what makes me
even happier is the friendship Saddlehandlebar Stand / Stand on Pins (Pair)
I developed with the other
cyclists who share the same
passion in this sport.”
2013 was a special year for me because I became
a Hong Kong Team member. Since then, I have
had the honour to represent Hong Kong in many
international competitions, such as the Hong Kong
Open, Hongkong and Macau Interport Indoor Cycling
Competition, the Asian Indoor Cycling Championship
as well as Wormser Cup Youth Tournament held in
Germany. I was lucky to get good results in some of
the international events. But what makes me even
happier is the friendship I developed with the other Training
cyclists who shared the same passion in this sport.
