Bonjour les enfants. Bonjour tout le monde.
Hello children. Hello everyone.
As you already know, my name is Dorothée and I am your new French
teacher this year. I am French. I was born in France and after graduating in
Literature, Didactics and Linguistics, I have taught French to students all over
the world.
Do you know where I have lived before coming to Hong Kong? In France of course, but also in Netherlands, in
Greece and in Serbia.
I am creative, I love making things by hands. I like cooking and inventing new recipes.Yesterday, I made rice rolls
from scratch and served them with mushrooms, onions and a soy and thyme sauce.
I also love reading. Because I am very curious, I read everything, articles, shorts stories, novels, essays … The last
comic I read was a detective story. The last French book I read was about the islands of Haiti and Dominican Republic.
This week, I am a reading an English novel whose plot is told from two dogs’ point of view.

What kind of books do you prefer? Tell me and I will get some in French for our class!
If you are a book lover too, we have new books in the French Room. To help your understanding, all the books are
written in two languages, French and English, or French and Chinese. There is even a story in French and Japanese.
Some of you have had a sneak peek before the holidays. It seems the more popular ones were the story about the
gladiators and the story about the girl who is afraid to go to the pool with her friends because she doesn't know how to swim.

All classes did a lot of great writing this year, I am very proud of your comics and to show them off to the whole
school, I will set up a small exhibition on the French class windows.
Now that we are back to school, for the Third Term, I want you to focus on speaking, thus, this month, all students will
play speaking games while, depending on your class, learning about family or animals.
And very soon, we will also have a French speech competitions with prizes for all the participants! How exciting!
