The Extended Essay (EE) is a 4,000-word behemoth felt much the same. Having the freedom to conduct
of an essay. It allows one to explore the topics they independent research about pretty much any topic

rivals college students; although you might not like is exactly what baffles so many IB students – who are
the subject so much afterward. Many compare the struggling to streamline their ideas into a viable and
workload to being crushed underneath the weight focused research question.

Actually, one of the reasons I’ve managed is because
of the incredible support of the teachers, and the fact
that I’ve actually listened. In our EE-dedicated lessons,
we talk about the core of IB and skills required to make
it through relatively unscathed, these skills also heavily
impact your success in your EE funnily enough. Most
importantly, we cover skills we need in learning to
improve our knowledge which is critical for college and
         the remainder of our lives.

That being said, the classes are held during Period
0 so you may not be lucid enough to remember
everything. As a matter of fact, we had the opportunity
to meditate in one of our classes which caused half of
the class, myself included, to fall asleep. But do not
fret, we also get field trips to places such as the Central
library, not only to make us feel incompetent by looking
at the students working there but also to introduce us
to the world of research. All in all, the EE isn’t entirely
the monstrous figure it’s made out to be, and not all
the horror stories/legends are true, though most of
them are. I guarantee that if you keep up with your
time-management, work ethic and constant vigilance
for items to help your research, you’ll be fine (by IB
         standards).
