CORE Week
Finally, CORE week (formerly known as
CAS week) came for those of us in year 12
as we begin our treacherous quest through
the IB diploma program. Upon reaching year
12 we knew things would be different, we
knew that CAS was going to be an integral
component of our lives until we graduated
after two long years. With that in mind, we
set out to conquer our own adventures such
that we should learn from them (that’s the
point of CAS in the first place) and develop
into better students. We used to view CORE
week as a fairly simple process where
our tasks only meant organizing certain
activities and having a group to participate,
but simply put we were completely mistaken.
So a warning to those of you reading
this, ideally you will begin planning this in
September. As such we advise you to have
ideas as soon as summer holiday ends.
Some groups chose to do beach clean-ups,
community service work for elderly citizens,
first-aid courses, latte art, ceramic making,
etc. All in all, these experiences not only
gave us hours to place on our CAS record
but also provided us with opportunities to
explore whatever we wished and develop Tell us something you gained from this CORE week:
our personalities accordingly.
