countries and people can make the mission of conserving the environment of the
city easier and these kinds of collaborations could only increase in the future.
Furthermore, advancing technologies have undoubtedly contributed to the
success of conservation work. Compared to
a century ago, our technologies have evolved
and modified a lot. Because of this, industrial
processes, particularly power generation,
has become more environmentally friendly.
The biggest improvement is that more
countries tend to use renewable energy
which produces less pollutants instead
of combusting coal. In spite of the fact
that the development of technology has almost reached its pinnacle, there is still
room for improvement in terms of the cost and the percentage of adoption of new
technologies. Indeed, experts nowadays are constantly innovating to better our
future.
Nonetheless, some may argue that
our future will be in the dark, since they are
solely considering the negative impacts of
the economic development. Their panic
can be understood as we see that the rural,
untainted areas is actually dwindling and lots
of rare species are put in danger. I am not
denying that our environment is becoming
worse, merely for the sake of economic development. However, had it not been for
stable and steadily growing economy, the government will not have any resources to
protect the environment. What I mean is the growing economic development will not
harm the city but benefit conservation work instead. Once our economy and living
standard have reached a certain level, the government
will put more effort on preservation work without any
strings attached. Eventually, our future will be green.
To sum up, it is glad to see that all the citizens have
spoken out of love for the society, and the government
has listened to public’s outcry. A greener and better future
is not difficult to be seen soon.
