and there will be higher chances to be offered
promotions. For instance, there is a research
stating that if people complete a degree, they
will earn around 15 per cent more than a non-
university graduate. Under the same rationale,
someone with a bachelor’ degree who goes on
to build a career that utilises that qualification is
likely to earn more over his or her lifetime, with
their higher position and relatively higher starting salary. This shows us that people
with higher education can be rewarded with higher income.
Third, graduates can broaden their horizons and upgrade themselves through
further education. It has always been more important to stay up-to-date nowadays in
a knowledge-based world. However, people may not be able to spend time knowing
what is new to the world when they are busy with their daily work, but having further
studies can provide them a chance to see new things which they have never seen
before. Moreover, studying in university might give one motivation and confidence
to try something new, or even push them for further personal growth. Therefore,
pursuing further studies can really be beneficial to a budding adolescent.
Nonetheless, some people may think that it is better to make money for a place
of their own as having further education may not guarantee a higher salary. Yet,
only further studies will open up opportunities at all stages of your life. Studying can
be an important transition where you get to learn new things and meet new people,
which will expose you to different ways of thinking. Besides, there is government
support to help with the costs. Thus, pursuing further studies is very worthwhile to
all who are about to step into the workforce.
All in all, I think going for further studies
is much more important than to make
money for owning a place. Having further
education will give people a head start over
others and also help people become skilled
workers, so they can work towards future
goals, empower them to help their family, or even support others. We should stop
being so short-sighted but start looking towards the brighter future that education
          can provide.
                                                        Yours faithfully,
                                                        Chris Wong
