Letter To Editor:
Is It Better To Have A Place Of Your Own
Than To Pursue Further Studies?
6D Danica Wong Man Kei
Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my views on
whether it is better to have a place of your
own or to pursue further studies. With the
ever-rising property prices, many aspiring
teenagers are having this confusion in
their minds. The general public should also
acknowledge this common dilemma which
young people face in a capitalistic society.
Living in a city that runs on funds and capital, people usually think that it is essential
to have not only great wealth but also own a flat of their own. However, I think to
pursue further studies is more important since only then a much brighter future can
be brought. From my point of view, people should pursue further studies than to
make money for buying a place.
First, having further qualification
boosts one’s career prospect. With a
better education, university graduates
can go further in their careers.
Graduates would be better equipped
with professional knowledge as they are
studying and become proficient in their
occupations, where many employers
would prefer experts over high-school, untrained graduates. Thus, there will be a
wider range of options offered to those graduates if they are better equipped. Thus,
having further studies can really help with enhancing people’s competitiveness.
Second, with better qualification comes higher earning potential. With better
credentials, people can be eligible for higher paying positions after graduation
