we should all spare no pains to reduce the high stress level, lest the health of our
students would be greatly affected.
To tackle the above problems, three activities are recommended by the school
social worker. They are walking, swimming and singing. These are all effective
measures to help us get rid of our stress. In particular, I would like to discuss how
walking can be useful in fighting pressure.
Firstly, being able to feel relaxed is one of the noticeable
benefits of walking. Walking is a physical exercise which can
help relieve stress, thus improving your mood and mental
outlook. There is no denying that exercising is one of the keys to
fighting pressure as you will feel exhilarated and free after doing
sports. Walking in the park or along the river, people can get
away from their hectic life and put aside all their burdens while
they enjoy the fresh air and serene scenery.
Some may hold the perception that
walking is not as effective as doing‘typical’ sports, yet the truth is
the opposite. While walking and running seem to be quite similar
in nature, the physical burden on the knees, joints and soles of
your feet is lesser. Besides, a walk is less strenuous compared
to a run, so it would feel more like a break from their work than a
complete drain of their energy. Walking has its advantages over
other more physical sport activities.
Lastly, walking helps students reduce stress owing to the fact that walking does
not consume a lot of time. With a number of adolescents being too lazy to do sports
or reluctant to waste their study time, walking is the only viable choice for them.
After a brisk walk, students will be invigorated and be ready to tackle the books
again. Not only would you be able to study more effectively after walking, you would
also sleep better and have your mood improved.
All in all, high level of stress, if ignored, can cause
serious problems and should not be overlooked.
Students should always make sure that they have
sufficient time for relaxation and exercise as they are
the keys to high productivity and good health. It is high
time we all took concrete steps to reduce our stress in
order to maintain a good mental and physical health!
