girls are terrified of canines and some are allergic to
their fur. Consequently, if people receive a pet that
they do not like or cannot get along with, they will
only abandon it and that pet will become an ‘orphan’.
After all, pets have a life like us too. They
have feelings just like us. Pets are called ‘friends of
human beings’, particularly dogs. They should have
the same rights as we do. In my opinion, buying or adopting a pet for ourselves is
like meeting a new friend or even welcoming a new family member. However, gifts
are simply items, which means that if
you buy a pet as gift, you are treating
animals as lifeless goods. I strongly
disagree with this act as you are not
paying any respect to a living being.
Just imagine, you are bought by a
person and then you are given to
others who you have no idea what
kind of people they are. Being the
most intelligent animal in the world,
we must know how to respect lives and living things. Respect is the first thing we
learn in our life and it is a basic quality of
being human. So, do not buy pets as gifts!
Last but not least, everyone has to know
what should be considered before buying or
adopting a pet. For people who really want to
buy a pet as gift, which I do not recommend,
you must first ask the person that you are
giving the pet to, whether they would like to be
an owner or not. Do not buy pets for people
who are neither animal-lovers nor kind-hearted
beings! On the other hand, if you want to adopt a pet, ask yourself, ‘Am I able and
willing to take care of your pet until the day it dies?’ Asking yourself this question will
make you think twice about your choice and may save lots of poor pets. Being a pet
owner is a huge responsibility. If you are not sure about this, you can consult a vet
before making the decision.
