accepted by peers, changes in their appearance, academic performance, family
relationships and so on. However, not many teenagers are emotionally equipped
to handle these challenges. They also need to learn how to make independent
decisions, bear responsibilities and face consequences as they are growing up.
Those that cannot adapt to these changes will therefore feel stressed.
To cope with stress, one must not panic and
feel desperate. If we know the origin of stress,
we can deal with it and even prevent it. For those
who are suffering from stress and not knowing
what to do, the following are some suggestions.
Firstly, you must seek help. Don’t hide stress or
keep it a secret as it will not go away. Speak to
your teachers, parents and friends for advice and
assistance. If your stress level is as high as a
skyscraper, do not hesitate to consult a doctor, or
a social worker. They have professional knowledge and are able to offer remedies.
Have difficulties about learning? Ask the teachers! They would be more than willing
to help any troubled students. Also, friends are great listeners!
Secondly, you should always be happy. As stated above, stress is preventable.
Do not be pessimistic; instead, be optimistic! Think of the problems that you have
solved every day. You are always doing better than you imagine.
Thirdly, you should try to maintain a healthy and balanced life. It is the only
way to beat stress. Doing sports and exercise are especially favourable – they are
highly effective at stress-killing. Feeling stressed? Do some light exercise after
dinner, listen to some music, take a hot shower or simply go to bed early and have
a good sleep! These activities are extremely relaxing and are guaranteed to clear
any pressure of the day.
Finally, I hope all students can enjoy
an optimistic and stress-free school life,
and good luck with your studies and the
upcoming exams!
