Dangers On Social Networking Sites

Dear Paula,
How are you? I found that you share a great deal of your personal information
and daily experiences on social networking sites. I’m worried that you are exposing
too much about yourself to strangers. I hope that you would not get yourself into
trouble. Let me tell you some potential dangers of disclosing too many personal
details on the Internet.
First, I know you like to share your
daily experiences on social networking sites.
The photos you took were beautiful and I
like them very much. But do you know that
strangers may know about some of your
personal information through the photos?
Sometimes, you take photos from your
window or of the places you like to go. From
your photos and the captions, they can make good guesses of a lot of your personal
information such as where you live and the places you often visit. It may cause
dangers to you. The strangers may harass you and your family members.
Second, you are sharing a great deal of your personal information like your
date of birth, age and real name. People can get your personal information easily.
Strangers may use the information to do bad things. They may use your information
to make a fake ID card or apply for a credit card. They already have enough
information to withdraw all the money you have saved in the bank.
After telling you the potential dangers, now I’m going to give you some advice
on what you should pay attention to when using social networking sites. Hope you
will take my advice and it will be useful to you.
First, because you are using a social
networking site, people around the world who
visit the same site can see your posts. Based
on this point, I suggest you set your account to
private so people will need to get your permission
before they can see your posts. Then you can
